Have you ever felt anxious when someone asked you to introduce yourself? The pressure to speak fluently and make a good impression can be overwhelming, whether it’s a classroom, a networking event, or a job interview.
Self-introductions are more than a formality—they set the stage for meaningful interactions. In this blog, inspired by Seekho Official’s Spoken English series, we’ll walk you through simple, practical steps to create a confident and polished introduction in English.
Introduce yourself in English! You must have heard this question every time, on a school or college’s first day or while joining a new coaching centre. Especially during a job interview, you are always asked to tell the interviewer about yourself as an introduction in English.
Now, you might not know what to say in situations like these. Today, I am going to tell you such tricks that will help you easily introduce yourself in English anytime and anywhere.
This video will be very useful for you and your kids.
So, hello, my name is Sartaj and welcome to Seekho Official show, Spoken English.
Now, whenever you introduce yourself in any situation, you only have to keep 5 main things at the tip of your fingers.
Number one, name and age. You have to start by stating your name and then age. So how can you tell your name?
Saying, “Hello myself, Rahul” or “Hello me Rahul” is grammatically incorrect. If you are in front of public, say, “Hello everyone, my name is Rahul”, and if you are in front of one person, say, “Hello, I am Rahul,” and then mention your age, “I am 25 years old.”
Number two is location. You must inform the other person where you are from, for example, “I am from Delhi.”
Number three, and most importantly, your qualifications. Talk about this aspect in proper detail, with specifics. For example, “I have completed my graduation in business from the University of Delhi.”
Number four, talk about your family. You don’t have to name your family members; you can just say, “I have 4 members in my family.” “My mother is a teacher, and my father is a doctor.”
Number five is hobbies. You might forget about this, but it is an important part of your introduction. For example, “I like to play the guitar and watch movies.”
Lastly, you have to end it on a sweet note. You can say something like, “That’s all about me. Thank you.”
Your introduction will sound something like this:
Hello everyone, my name is Rahul. I am 25 years old. I am from Delhi. I have graduated with a degree in business from the University of Delhi. I have 4 members in my family. I like to play the guitar and watch movies. That’s all about me. Thank you.
Remember, if you are giving your introduction for a job interview, mention things about yourself in better detail, focusing on specifying your qualifications, like work experience, etc.
So these 5 things will safely get you out of any tricky self-introduction situation!
