In this video, we will talk about how to book a Tatkal railway ticket. In fact, you can book your Tatkal ticket using your mobile phone in under 1 minute. Welcome to Seekho official show, Sarkari Services.
There are some things you should know before booking a Tatkal ticket online. For example, there are two categories when booking a railway ticket. Railway booking in India offers two primary options: Normal Booking and Tatkal Booking. Normal booking is the standard method, allowing passengers to reserve tickets well in advance, typically up to 120 days before the journey.
It provides flexibility in seat selection and is ideal for planned travel. Tatkal booking, on the other hand, is designed for last-minute travellers and opens one day before the journey at 10:00 am for AC classes and 11:00 AM for non-AC classes.
Tatkal tickets often come at a premium, with dynamic pricing based on demand, and are subject to limited availability. While normal bookings are refundable with certain deductions, Tatkal bookings offer partial refunds only in specific cases, such as train cancellations.
To log into IRCTC, visit the official website or open the mobile app, then locate the login section on the homepage. Enter your User ID, password, and the CAPTCHA code displayed, and click on 'Sign In' to access your account. If you're a new user, click on 'Register' or 'Sign Up' to create an account by providing your personal details.
Tatkal bookings open at 10:00 am for AC classes and 11:00 AM for non-AC classes one day before the journey. Start by entering your journey details, such as the departure and destination stations, travel date, and class of travel. Select a train with Tatkal availability, then choose the "Tatkal" option.
Fill in passenger details quickly, as Tatkal tickets are in high demand. Ensure you have your payment method ready (net banking, cards, UPI, etc.) to complete the transaction swiftly. Once the payment is successful, you will receive an e-ticket.
Keep your ID proof handy during travel, as it is mandatory for Tatkal ticket holders.
Remember, while booking a Tatkal ticket, only 4 people can travel on one PNR and if you want to add more passengers, you will have to repeat the process.
I hope you now understand how to book a Tatkal ticket online. Thank you.

Tatkal booking opens a day before the travel date, offering flexibility for travellers who cannot plan their journeys in advance but still need to secure a ticket.
Limited Availability for Specific Trains
If you're looking for a seat on a specific train that has limited availability, the Tatkal quota might offer an opportunity to book when normal tickets are no longer available.
Plan Ahead and Be Prepared
Before the booking window opens, decide on your journey details, such as departure and destination stations, class of travel, and preferred trains. Keep an alternative train option ready in case your first choice gets booked.
Pre-fill Passenger Details
Use the "Master List" feature in the IRCTC portal to save passenger details like name, age, and ID proof in advance. This allows you to autofill information during booking and save time.
Be Quick but Accurate
Speed is essential, but mistakes can be costly. Double-check details like journey dates, train class, and passenger information before proceeding to payment.
Avoid Browsing Multiple Tabs
Stay focused on one browser window to avoid session expiry or technical glitches.
Be Prepared for Dynamic Pricing
Tatkal tickets come with premium charges. Be aware of dynamic pricing, which increases based on demand, and set a budget accordingly.
